For this year, 2021, the award for the most cited paper among those published in 2019 is given ex aequo to

Karpowicz et al. (2019) on “A place in space - the horizontal vs vertical factors that influence zooplankton (Rotifera, Crustacea) communities in a mesotrophic lake”, volume: 78 Issue: 2 Pages: 243-258

The corresponding authors for the award of 2021, Maciej Karpowicz from the University of Bialystok, Poland, and Matti Leppäranta from the University of Helsinki, Finland, will receive a printed copy of the Journal of Limnology issue including the awarded paper and will be eligible for the publication of another paper submitted to Journal of Limnology during 2021, for free.
